Investment Policy Statement (IPS)
An IPS outlines the overall structure of the Plan's investment program, the duties and responsibilities of the review committee and the general policies and procedures under which the committee operates. In creating an IPS with our clients, we establish guidelines and procedures for staff to perform their duties in connection with the selection of outside investment funds offered under the Plan. The IPS outlines for staff, the criteria and procedures that the review committee intends to use in evaluating the performance of the investment funds in which the Plan invests.
Areas covered in a IPS include:
- Asset Class Guidelines
- Fund Review Criteria
- Control Procedures
- Investment Manager Selection
- The Role of the Plan Fiduciaries
- Cost Measuring Process
- Investment Policy Statement Review
- Certification by Chairman
